PHAT KATH is a French Restro Bar & Gallery, located on a busy corner site of Thamel’s Chaksibari Marg, Kathmandu. Situated in between Pilgrim’s Book Store and Roadhouse in Thamel, an arrow sign will greet you through a small alleyway with handicrafts and singing bowls on display. It is a family run restaurant that has a comfortable and relaxed feel to it. Mukhiya Ghale is one of the founders of the restaurant. He has attained 10years of experience in design from New Zealand. PHAT KATH means ‘Cool Kathmandu’; awesome wood is the theme and inspiration for the restaurant’s design; all the furniture in the restaurant is made from ‘recycled’ wood. The tables, chairs, lamps, interior and so forth, were all creatively designed by Mukhiya himself with an aim to add a family touch to the space! Chefs and cooks at PHAT KATH hold cooking experience from Dubai. The specialties here at PHAT KATH are: Crepes & Galette, Burgers, Breakfasts and more. We also serve a variety of delicacies and not just French meals. Freshly squeezed organic apple juice is also available where the apples have been imported straight from Manang. We also serve Sisha/Hookah in various flavours. We never turn down requests from our customers; hence orders that are not included in our menu are also accepted upon availability of the ingredients in the kitchen. We use fresh organic vegetables (all washed with iodine) for our meals. To compliment the delicious food served in PHAT KATH, music is also played throughout the opening hours. We also serve special dishes on occasions such as ‘Christmas dinner’ on Christmas and so forth. During winter, barbecue is done twice a week in PHAT KATH to suit the perfect weather. We also serve ‘Happy Hour Cocktail’ to brighten up our customer’s day. Bookings and reservations are also done on request. PHAT KATH reflects a unique and creative environment as it has been decorated with many items (designed by Mukhiya) that promote Nepali culture. Many of the designed entities can be bought by our customers upon request. The most exciting thing about our restaurant is that you can buy what you see! Anything that is on display and catches your eye including furniture, plates, cups, lamps and so on can be bought. We also sell the dream catchers on display if our customers are interested. PHAT KATH also sells t-shirts and caps with the restaurant logo, designs etc or you can pick your own design for printing, which we are willing to produce.
